Why It Matters:
This is a fast-paced way to get your group moving, get them engaged, and get further insight into their lives. This game can be as silly or a serious as you'd like it to be, providing chances for your group to connect closer together and provide deeper conversations.
How to Play:
This simple game is a scavenger hunt of sorts for participants to find various objects in the space they are in. The leader of the group asks participants to find objects, one at a time (See the list below) and then take some time to share (this will obviously depend on the context). For those needing more of a thrill, add a time limit to finding an item (such as 20 seconds or even 10 seconds) and only the people able to find the objects in that timeframe get to share that round. Or for another variation that can be especially helpful for those having a one-sided video conversation, combine all of the objects together and have participants find as many as they can within a given timeframe (for example, 2 minutes). The one with the most items wins. As discussed with previous games, this can be tailored to your philosophy of ministry- you can have participants text their answers out to their small group, or to one or two friends, or to the whole group.
Find _______ in the Room:
-Something (insert a color)
-Something made of (wood, metal, plastic)
-Living (a plant, animal, etc.)
-A stuffed animal
-Starts with the letter "?"
-Something you use for a hobby you enjoy (musical instrument, video game controller, book, etc.)
-Something you've spent the most time with
-Something you consider valuable
-Something you use every day
-Something you couldn't live without
-Something you wished you spent more time on
-???-The possibilities are truly endless! The game is what you make of it!
Spiritual Connection:
*Note: While essentially every game can lead to some incredible spiritual connections, not every game needs to. Sometimes just the fun of the game or opportunities for connections can be more than enough that can then lead to those deeper truths throughout the time together.
This game can lead to a conversation about what participants value and what they spend their time on. It can reveal the group's heart and can lead to discussions on what is of eternal value, of how the Kingdom of Heaven is like a buried treasure (Matt. 13:44) or how we can glorify God in all that we do, even in our time of video games, musical instrument playing, pet caring, etc.!
