WHY IT MATTERS:
Popper Tag is a game from Nate Folan with a simple concept and a way to really break the ice for your group that can range from silly all the way into get-to-know-you. In order to discuss the deeper spiritual things, many times, it helps to have those short moments of connection, which this game can begin to introduce.
HOW TO PLAY:
The premise is simple: toss your tossable (can be anything from a crumbled up piece of paper, to a small cup, paper plate, etc. Essentially, something small that can be used safely to throw) at the backs of the other players. For each time you hit someone's back, you get a point. First person to 10 points wins!
This game can be modified based on your group's size, and space- for smaller groups, you can adjust the rules to say first one to get __ many points (for the number of people you have in your group, or double the people you have in your group). For a larger group with tighter space, maybe have participants have to stand at their seat in order to accomplish their ten points rather than moving around the room.
For variations, as people begin to win, have them turn into something silly (a chicken, monkey, or even animal of their choosing such as their favorite animal). For a little deeper get to know you- have the points they are willing to count be related to something about the person (i.e. name, interests, age, etc.).
SPIRITUAL CONNECTION:
*Note: While essentially every game can lead to some incredible spiritual connections, not every game needs to. Sometimes just the fun of the game or opportunities for connections can be more than enough that can then lead to those deeper truths throughout the time together.
This game can lead to conversations regarding anything to do with connection- our need for community in order to truly succeed and grow in our walk with the Lord, can discuss as well evangelism in one's surrounding sphere of influence, etc.
