WHY IT MATTERS:
Stay Standing If is a game we played many times in the youth group I used to serve in. This is a version of Never-Have-I-Ever that will appeal to your social gamer and allow a space for commonalities and connections.
HOW TO PLAY:
The leader of the game says the phrase, "Stay standing if..." followed by some sort of thing the participants have done or something they like or something they are wearing. Those that the phrase applies to would stay standing; those it does not would sit. The last one standing wins. These can be tailored to the particular culture of your group and the level of depth you want to make the game. For example, a high level one would be, "Stay standing if you are wearing (socks, the color red, etc.). Or something super silly such as "Stay standing if you have ever farted in public (middle school boys love this one!)." Or for a more in-depth, "Stay standing if you have felt (lonely, anxious, etc.).
This can also be tailored to your specific culture as well in focusing on an individual or on small groups or even teams (i.e. "Stay standing if..." someone in your small group/team has _______") which would allow for more in-depth small group interaction.
SPIRITUAL CONNECTION:
*Note: While essentially every game can lead to some incredible spiritual connections, not every game needs to. Sometimes just the fun of the game or opportunities for connections can be more than enough that can then lead to those deeper truths throughout the time together.
This game can lead to conversations regarding any kind of connection points from something small of having the same kind of phone/hobby/etc. or something more in depth that they learn during their time together which can then bridge the gap to deeper conversations.
